Julie Wells is walking with Bubba's Buddies on May 7, 2006 in Washington, DC.
Bubba's
Buddies is gearing up for the 4th year in a row, to participate in the
Walk to Cure Diabetes, on May 7th, in support of our son Corey, a.k.a,
Bubba. Corey was diagnosed when he was just 15 months old. He will be 4
1/2 when he walks this year.
Corey is a happy, energetic, and
sensitive boy who if you can't tell from the photo, loves his big
brother Liam, VERY MUCH! They are best friends, and do just about
everything together. Liam has even tried to learn how to test Corey's
blood sugar, so that mom dad could "have a break." Too sweet!!!
We
continue to monitor Corey's diet (counting carbs all the time), test
his blood sugar 6-8 times daily and throughout the night, and give
insulin shots twice daily. He remains a trooper through all of it. It
is truly amazing and inspiring to witness.
In our attempt to
support Corey and all of those afflicted with this disease, we have
formed "Bubba's Buddies", our team consisting of family and friends who
will walk with us on Sunday May 7th. Over the past three years, our
team alone has raised over $60,000. This year, we're hoping to add
another $25,000 to the tally. You can help us in one of 3 ways:
1.
Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution in support of
Bubbas Buddies, right here at this website, using the donation link
listed above. It's very easy only takes a few minutes, and you can use
a credit card.
2. If you're not a "credit card on-line" type,
you can send a check (made payable to JDRF) to my home by 5/5/06.
Please e-mail me at sheba@joimail.com for address info.
3. If
you live in the area and would like to participate in the walk on May
7th, simply register yourself as an active member of the team. We
encourage each walker to raise $100 (which gets you a free JDRF T-shirt
as well), by collecting money from folks you know, including yourself,
and then join us for a fun morning downtown.
With your help, we
believe that there will be a cure in Corey's lifetime. Thank you so
much for your continued support and God Bless you and yours.
