Hello Edheads,

What a crazy day, it's Wednesday, and I'm leaving for the Midwest tomorrow....so let's talk about the past week of shows........no let's talk about American Idol and the Oscars.

I'm usually home on Monday's and Tuesdays so I've been able to see a lot of the try-outs and the Hollywood auditions with my A.I. club - consisting of my neighbor Chrissy, and my good pals Jen and Susan. Susan brings the chicken wings, and everyone brings red wine. It gets pretty ugly. We've decided a few things - we think Paula's soda cup is filled with alcohol...and her comments sound ridiculous..... like "you're voice is so open and free" - what exactly does that mean...Jen wishes Debbie (oh I'm sorry, it's DEBORAH) Gibson would replace Paula......and we're all very glad that the poor girl who sold her wedding rings from VA beach to get to the DC auditions, didn't make it. I swear, if I had to see that clip one more time of "if I can't express myself through music (picture tears streaming down her face), I'm just going to die.....come on now, you've got a husband, a daughter, you still have your Karoke machine...you're not reeeaaaallly going to die? And I'd like to say that my vote goes in for CONSTANTINE - and I'm not talking about the new Keanu Reeves movie....man that boy is a hottie, moves well, is sexy, and can sing! I thought his rendition of the Seal song that he chose to sing on Monday was great, and then Paula and Randy were saying that he was sharp - and I was like, yeah, keep drinking Paula, I'm sure that your ears are just right on tonight. I thought he was great. I voted for him 26 times. I know it's pathetic. As far as the girls go, well after last night - I think Kerry Underwood, you know the beautiful blond cheerleader type straight off the farm who sang that Tiffany song....she's just wonderful, and I also think Aloha is damn good. Ok, go ahead and call me shallow, I don't really care. I love this show, and I can't wait to see who get's the ax tonight!

And my next point- the Oscars. This is the first year that I will be missing the Oscars, since, oh I don't know I can't even remember! I will be in Madison, Wisconsin on Sunday night instead of my basement, constantly calling my friends after every win! I love the Oscars....I watch them every year. I love the gowns, the gossip, the speeches, all of it! When the nominations come out, I make it my goal to see at least every nominee for best picture, and then if I can fit any of the others in, then I do. Again, call me pathetic, I don't care! So here's my pics for the 2005 Academy Awards:

Best picture

What I wish would win - Finding Neverland - Johhny Depp was so great and is just soooo incredibly gorgeous

What I think will win - The Aviator - I keep hearing this buzz about Million Dollar baby taking it all, but I think the big epic will win out in the end.

Best Actor

Who I wish would win - Jamie Fox

Who I think will win - Jamie Fox - man, I never realized how talented that guy is, nor did I realize how hard Ray's life was with his addiction. What a wonderful job - and you know his acceptance speech will be so heartfelt and probably very funny.

Best Actress

Who I wish would win - Annette Benning

Who I think will win - Hillary Swank - and God help us all if she does, because her speech will be never-ending! She was great, I'll admit it, but poor Annette - losing out to this girl again - who according to Mike and Robbie, looks like she hasn't eaten in a month. Let's hope Julia can pull it off

Best supporting actor

Who I wish would win - Morgan Freeman

Who I think will win - Morgan Freeman - the man was fabulous, and deserves it

Best Supporting actress

Who I wish would win - Virginia Madsen

Who I think will win - Cate Blanchett - again, the epic movie, and she was incredible as Katherine Hepburn - but Virginia Madsen...she came out of nowhere, sort of "where have you been hiding, you're really good" so it would be nice to see her win, especially since "Sideways" was such a good movie

Director

Who I wish would win- Martin Scorsese - do I even need to say why? Please give this guy the recogition that he deserves.

Who I think will win - Clint Eastwood - I just have this feeling - and the movie was great, but poor Marty - it's really a shame.

So, I know there are many other awards, but these are the ones that I'm really excited about...and I think I'll be on stage in Madision the entire time that the Oscars are on.....which is perfectly fine - thank God for Tevo. And here's looking forward to seeing our good pals Lowen and Navarro, we're doing 3 shows with them and they are INCREDIBLE!!!! If I had to be away from the Oscars, then this would be the show that I would want to be doing....does that make sense...you know what I mean, right? I mean, it's totally fine to be missing a silly TV show and be sharing music with a real audience (uhhh, thank God for Tevo)...so see you guys real soon out there in the Tundra.

Love,

Julie
